Determine the size of the solar charge controller regulator

(Charge Controller) is an electronic circuit that regulates the battery charging process or series of batteries (Battery Bank). DC voltage generated by the solar panels can vary above and below 12 volts with a tolerance range of 10%. This controller serves as a battery voltage regulator so as not to exceed the tolerance limit. In addition, this controller also prevents the drainage flow from the battery to the solar panel when the charging process is not in place (eg at night). If the battery or the battery is full range, then the flow of DC from the solar panel will be decided so that the battery is not subjected to charging.

Size (or rating) for flow control equipment in and out of the battery is determined in units of Ampere. To determine how Amper pengecas controller battery should be used is a very simple job.

We take the example for nest building where we have set the amount of weight and size of the cell panel as follows:

- Expenses = 187.5 W, so it will need two panels @ 100W = 200W

Size / rating Pengecas battery controller:

- Nominal voltage = 12V, 12V controller must also
- The size of the tool controller = 200/12 = 16.7 A
- In consideration of the efficiency factor of 25%, 16.7 * 1.25 = 20.82 A
So the controller to be used is a Charge Controller which ratings are not under 21A.
