What is Solar stand-alone system?
Stand-alone systems are not connected to the grid. Off-Grid systems (standalone) use a photovoltaic system to supply electricity to a consumer unit directly or via a battery, independently of other energy sources.
Stand-alone Solar Power System, Stand-alone PV System or Off-grid Power System operates independent of the electric utility grid (off-grid) and most often uses in remote areas where the utility grid is not available or where the connection fees of the grid are higher than the cost of an alternative energy system. The generated DC power needs to be stored in battery and converted to AC power for supplying to AC loads. Stand-alone Solar Power System suits to use for remote village electrification or rural electrification to provide continuous reliable power at remote locations.
Stand-alone solar system is suitable for any areas where utility power line is not available.
This system requires a charge controller to charge storage batteries for discharge to run electrical appliances.
Stand-alone inverter systems consists of a standard Solar Home System with solar module, battery and solar charge controller, plus an additional inverter that supplies AC power.
